A former media executive has been named chief executive of the Dolan Co., whose former CEO resigned amid Dolan's recent bankruptcy.

Mark McEachen, 56, most recently was chief operating officer of Freedom Communications, a newspaper publisher that also went through bankruptcy several years ago.

"Mark's successful track record in the media and information industry makes him the right person to lead Dolan to new levels of success," said Sean Britain, a member of the Dolan board of directors and a principal at Bayside Capital, Dolan's principal owner. "He is a proven leader who will build upon the company's strong foundation."

Before joining Freedom in 2009, McEachen served as chief financial officer of Fabrik Inc., a maker and marketer of online services solutions. He also was interim CEO of BridgeCo., a digital entertainment networking company.

A spokeswoman said McEachen will move to Minneapolis to take over Dolan, which became a private company, owned by its debt holders, when it emerged from bankruptcy in June.

Dolan, publisher of Finance & Commerce, is a provider of professional services and business information to the legal, financial, and real estate sectors in 19 U.S. markets.
