Buca buyout

Terms: Planet Hollywood said it would acquire all the shares of Buca Inc. for 45 cents per share, or about $9.7 million; including assumed debt, the deal is valued $28.5 million.

Buca history: The Buca di Beppo concept was created in 1993; the Minneapolis-based company went public April 20, 1999, at $12 per share.

All-time high: $25.15 per share on April 24, 2001

Low: 29 cents on July 31, 2008

Tuesday's close: 40 cents, up 26.6 percent

Lights out at U energy conference. Irony police notified.

Just as Lawrence Kazmerski, a top official at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, was about to give the keynote address at the University of Minnesota's annual E3 conference at the RiverCentre in St. Paul, the lights went out, bathing the audience in darkness and a deep sense of irony.
