The 950 Minneapolis Macy's employees who lost their jobs in a $100 million cost-cutting measure in February soon will have company.

The company confirmed Tuesday that it plans to lay off some "support services employees" this weekend, but it declined to say how many.

Macy's East spokeswoman Elina Kazan said the layoffs affected a "small percentage" of employees, mostly in Macy's By Appointment personal shopping and alterations departments.

"The reorganization will position the stores to allocate resources to provide an enhanced experience to our valued customers," Kazan said in a statement.

An anonymous caller alerted the Star Tribune about the pending layoffs. If you're losing your job at Macy's this weekend, please contact retail reporter Jackie Crosby at 612-673-7335.
