Spirit Airlines adds nonstops from MSP to Houston, Baltimore

  • Updated: January 29, 2014 - 9:23 PM

Spirit Airlines said Wednesday it will begin daily nonstop flights from the Twin Cities to Houston and Baltimore on May 1.

The flights take slots the airline has been using to fly nonstop flights to some warm weather destinations during the winter. The new service continues to Nov. 1.

In Houston, Spirit will fly to George Bush Intercontinental Airport, the larger of the two main airports serving the city.

Spirit Airlines, a no-frills carrier based in Miramar, Fla., started service at Minneapolis-St. Paul International in 2012. It mainly flies to Chicago, Dallas and Las Vegas but adds several other destinations, such as Tampa, Orlando, Fort Myers and Fort Lauderdale, during winter months.
