YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES

Lunds and Bachman's have inked a sweet-smelling deal that will put an expanded array of Bachman's flowers and seasonal garden products in 10 Lunds grocery stores starting Monday.
The agreement, announced Wednesday, essentially expands Bachman's reach across all 21 Lunds and Byerly's stores in the Twin Cities and St. Cloud, as Bachman's has been peddling its flowers in Byerly's stores since 1968.
Lunds' parent company, Lund Food Holdings, bought Byerly's in 1997.
Bachman CEO Todd Bachman said the deal came together this week after Bachman's purchased the grocery division of Minneapolis Floral, which had been operating a mostly cut-flower shop in Lunds stores since 1974.
Minneapolis Floral co-owner Larry Olson, considered an industry expert in cut flowers, will run Bachman's grocery operations, Bachman said. (Minneapolis Floral also has a retail store on Hennepin Avenue that was not part of the sale.)
Lunds shoppers can expect more hanging baskets, patio planters and tropical plants, such as hibiscus, in addition to cut flowers, Bachman's said. Similar offerings already are available at Byerly's.
Bachman's operates the 300- to 500-square-foot stores, and pays to rent the space.
The transition is expected to be completed by June 6.
