The cost of plugging in the car

Dakota Electric Association, a power cooperative serving the south-metro Twin Cities area,

is proposing special rates for charging electric plug-in vehicles at home. A separate

electric meter will be required for the home-charging station.

Summer (June-Aug) Times Cost/kWh*

On-peak 4 p.m.-9 p.m. 37.85¢

Off-peak 9 p.m.-8 a.m. 5.85¢

Daytime 8 a.m.-4 p.m. 11.54¢

Winter (Sept-May)

On-peak 4 p.m.-9 p.m. 37.85¢

Off-peak 9 p.m.-8 a.m. 5.85¢

Daytime 8 a.m.-4 p.m. 10.14¢

* kilowatt-hour weekends/holidays excluded.
