Six taconite mines and processing plants in Minnesota will be affected by a new proposed rule that reduces air emissions that cause haze in national park areas in northeastern Minnesota and Michigan. They are:
U.S. Steel facilities: Minntac, Mountain Iron, and Keetac, Keewatin.
ArcelorMittal facility, Virginia.
Cliffs Natural Resources' operations: United Taconite, Eveleth; Hibbing Taconite, Hibbing; and Northshore Mining, Silver Bay.
