Land O'Lakes Inc. has agreed to buy Kozy Shack Enterprises, a New York-based maker of dairy desserts.
Terms of the deal, which was announced Tuesday, weren't disclosed. Kozy Shack, a family-owned firm that's over 40 years old, is particularly known for puddings.
Arden Hills-based Land O'Lakes, a major dairy food producer, said that Kozy Shack represents a new category for the farmer-owned cooperative: refrigerated desserts.
"Kozy Shack is a strong strategic fit with our value-added dairy foods product portfolio," Land O'Lakes CEO Chris Policinski said in a press release. He said Kozy Shack has a "strong brand and a reputation for quality."
Kozy Shack has production facilities in New York, California and Ireland, the latter of which serves European customers. Land O'Lakes is the nation's second largest co-operative with nearly $13 billion in annual sales.
