Bigger portfolio to be marketed to U.S. doctors, hospitals.
St. Jude Medical Inc. and Abbott have bolstered an unusual alliance that essentially joins their medical device products into one portfolio that will be marketed to U.S. doctors and hospitals.
According to an announcement Monday, the portfolio includes Abbott's heart and endovascular products, including the company's top-selling heart stent Xience, with Little Canada-based St. Jude's pacemaker and heart defibrillator portfolio, as well as other cardiac-related products.
The agreement buildings upon an existing pact the two companies reached in 2008.
