1901-1902: First models designed, tested and sold to public.

1906: First American-made V-Twin engine.

1937: "Iron Man" Ed Kretz rides an Indian Sport Scout to win the first Daytona 200.

1940-1949: Production shifts to military and police bikes. The company changes hands and manufacturing and distribution operations are divided.

1950-1953: Indian struggles to re-enter consumer market, halts production.

1999-2003: Manufacturing under different owners resumes but halts again in 2003.

2004-2011: Indian Motorcycle acquired by British investors that resume production in 2008 in Kings Mountain, N.C.

2011: Indian sold to Polaris Industries Inc.
