3M Co. said it will acquire Advanced Chemistry & Technology Inc., a maker of fast-acting aerospace sealants, for undisclosed terms.

Aircraft sealants are used to prevent corrosion, seal critical gaps and protect against debris, 3M said.

The sealants made by Advanced Chemistry & Technology, based in Garden Grove, Calif., are used to seal such aircraft parts as fuel tanks, doors and windshields. The 14-year-old company has about 70 employees.
