Xcel Bird Cams revealing eggs

A camera overlooking peregrine falcon nests at two Xcel Energy Inc. power plants in Minnesota recorded the first eggs of the season this week.

Bird Cams A. S. King plant in Oak Park Heights and Sherburne County (Sherco) plant near Becker, Minn., have nesting boxes and cameras offering streaming video.

Xcel installed the first Bird Cam at the King plant in 1997. Video is also available on the website birdcam.xcelenergy.com of eagle and owl nests at Xcel facilities in Colorado and an eagle nest in Decorah, Iowa. Still photography is posted from a falcon nest at the Black Dog plant in Burnsville, Minn., an osprey nesting box at the King plant and a kestrel nest in Colorado.
