NWA pilots union reelects chairman

Last update: October 18, 2007 - 8:04 PM

Dave Stevens, chairman of the Northwest Airlines pilots union, was reelected Thursday to a two-year term by the union's executive council. Stevens is a Minneapolis-based Boeing 757 captain.

Monty Montgomery, a Detroit-based Airbus 320 captain, was elected vice chairman. Both men, who were hired by Northwest in the mid-1980s, pledged to focus their efforts on making improvements to the concessionary labor contract the pilots entered into while the company was in bankruptcy.

"The bankruptcy contract continues to have devastating effects on the pay and quality of life of our pilots and their families," Stevens said.
