Today's spotlight: DJ Enga

Last update: October 7, 2007 - 4:07 PM

Age: 38

New title: Director of education and outreach services at Auriton Solutions, a consumer credit counseling firm.

Previous job: Financial specialist for the Department of Human Services, Scott County

What do you do? I support the community's need for financial crisis counseling and education by working with government agencies, other nonprofits and schools to help move forward a smarter, more financially literate consumer.

Education: University of Colorado

Family: Wife, Andrea; sons Dominic, 14, and Haven, 10; daughter, Catie, 2

First job you ever had: Ditch digger

Who do you admire? Bill Gates. He's not only the Thomas Edison of our generation, he's quickly becoming the Andrew Carnegie of our generation, too.

Why do you do what you do? We are a desperately financially illiterate nation. We need to become more focused on making wise choices for our families, learn to save money, and take the time to ask ourselves if our characters are defined by the stuff we have, or the stuff we can live without.

Hobbies: Sailing, camping, writing, photography

What would you rather do than go to work Monday morning? Sleep in and have coffee and a Cajun breakfast at the New Louisiana Cafe with my wife.

Who inspires you? My dad. He's overcome tremendous loss in his life and has made himself a success regardless. He is for sure my hero.

Advice: Determine what you want, formulate a game plan and make sure that you don't go to bed without doing at least one thing that day to reach your goal.
