Police are investigating the skeletal remains of a person found Saturday afternoon in a Burnsville park.

A man walking his dog in Murphy-Hanrahan Park Reserve found the remains. On Sunday, Burnsville police, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Hennepin County medical examiner started to process the scene.

The remains haven’t been identified, but could be those of a 61-year-old man diagnosed with dementia who went missing in the area last April, said Burnsville Sgt. Rory Bochniak. Lorenzo Pachero-Orozco was last seen near the park April 15.

Police did an extensive search of the park, but never found the man. Bochniak said the remains were completely decomposed.
