Peterson, Gerhart miss practice again

Posted by: Chip Scoggins Updated: December 12, 2013 - 3:49 PM

Adrian Peterson (foot) and Toby Gerhart (hamstring) missed a second day of practice Thursday.

Coach Leslie Frazier said he hopes both will be able to do some work Friday. Peterson, who suffered a foot sprain, only has done pool rehab this week.

Asked what he needs to see from both players Friday in order to feel comfortable putting them on the field Sunday, Frazier said, "In Adrian's case, being able to see him cut, plant, just put some weight on that foot. Then with Toby, just see if he can burst a little bit with a hamstring. Hopefully, we can find that out tomorrow."

Tight end John Carlson is still experiencing concussion symptoms so he’s not been cleared to practice. Cornerback Xavier Rhodes (ankle) and right guard Brandon Fusco (knee) also did not practice.

“I’m hoping that we’ll get Brandon out there [Friday],” Frazier said. “Xavier will be touch and go. We’ll know more tomorrow. That’s a big day for all those guys.”

Adrian Peterson, five other Vikings held out of practice

Vikings running backs Adrian Peterson (groin/foot) and Toby Gerhart (hamstring) were two of six players that did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.

Guard Brandon Fusco (knee) and cornerback Xavier Rhodes (ankle) did not practice, though Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said they’re day-to-day. Tight end John Carlson (concussion) has not passed the NFL concussion protocol.

Cornerback Josh Robinson (chest) isn’t expected to practice this week as he recovers from a fractured sternum. He tried to return this week after starting workouts and conditioning last week, but Robinson wasn’t ready. He had a CT scan on Friday that showed no setbacks however.

Linebacker Larry Dean (knee) was limited.

For the Eagles, linebacker Najee Goode (hamstring) was the only player that didn’t participate in practice. Safety Earl Wolff (knee) was limited.

Adrian Peterson (ankle) out, goes to hospital for MRI

Posted by: Master Tesfatsion Updated: December 8, 2013 - 2:03 PM

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is questionable to return due to an ankle injury suffered in the second quarter.

Peterson injured his ankle when he was tackled on a third down catch with 11:27 left in the first half. He was helped off the field and eventually carted into the locker room. Peterson had X-rays according to the broadcast and walked on his own power inside the tunnel.

Peterson had seven carries for 13 yards in the snowy conditions. Toby Gerhart replaced Peterson at running back on the next series.

Update: Peterson has been officially ruled out. The broadcast said Peterson has left the stadium to a nearby hospital for an MRI.

It'll be the Gerhart show in the backfield in the second half.

Vikings' Ponder out; Ravens' Dumervil listed as doubtful

Posted by: Master Tesfatsion Updated: December 6, 2013 - 2:53 PM

Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder did not pass the NFL concussion protocol this week. He did not practice again on Friday and will be out of Sunday's contest against the Vikings.

Running back Adrian Peterson is listed as questionable (groin) after limited participation on Friday. Coach Leslie Frazier said Peterson wasn't running at full speed, but he was ramping up his activity for Sunday.

"No real need to burst or go 100 miles per hour today," Fraizer said. "But just something to make him feel comfortable about Sunday."

Ravens linebacker Elvis Dumervil (ankle) did not practice this week and listed as doubtful, but head coach John Harbaugh said he will be a game-time decision.

"Earlier in the week, we felt he was going to make it," Harbaugh said. "He’s not a guy that has to practice to play, so if he goes out there and feels like he can go, he will. If he doesn’t, he won't."

Adrian Peterson (groin) held out of Vikings practice again

Posted by: Master Tesfatsion Updated: December 5, 2013 - 3:53 PM

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was held out of Thursday's practice due to a lingering groin injury. Head coach Leslie Frazier said Peterson is expected to practice on Friday after missing consecutive practices.

Peterson has had issues with his hamstring and groin all season, but he leads the NFL with 1,208 rushing yards.

"It just tells you how amazing he is," Frazier said. "Not only does he play, but he plays extremely well. It's just incredible when you think what those injuries could for any position, less someone at running back."

Quarterback Christian Ponder still hasn't passed the NFL concussion protocol and Frazier said he will likely not have a role Sunday against the Ravens.

Wide receiever Greg Childs practiced again on Thursday, marking the first time he's participated in consecutive days. Frazier hopes Childs can practice again on Friday. The Vikings must make a decision by next week to either activate, release or place Childs on injured reserve.

"Childs has looked pretty good; he's made a lot of progress," Frazier said.

Frazier said tight end Kyle Rudolph (broken foot) hasn't progressed as fast as the team hoped. Rudolph was expected to miss 4-6 weeks. He will miss his fifth game on Sunday after suffering the injury against the Cowboys on Nov. 3.

Linebacker Larry Dean (knee) missed practice again. Defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd (illness) was also limited in practice.
