Mark your calendar for dining out on Sunday, March 14, as more than 80 Twin Cities restaurants participate in efforts to support the two restaurants that lost everything in a recent fire in south Minneapolis. Blackbird and Heidi’s Minneapolis will be the recipients of this collegial effort, Fork the Fire!,  among restaurateurs. For a complete list of the participating restaurants, go here to find out the specifics for each restaurant.

The chefs of Blackbird and Heidi's will be participating at two of the events. Chris Stevens of Blackbird will be cooking at Cafe Twenty Eight, 2724 W. 43rd St., Minneapolis, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the $25 event. Stewart Woodman of Heidi's will be cooking at Mission American Kitchen (77 Seventh St. S., Minneapolis), along with 12 other restaurant chefs. They will be cooking from 2 to 8 p.m.; cost is $30.

Diners unable to attend an event on the 14th can make a donation (contributions are not tax-deductible) to the Blackbird and Heidi’s Benefit Fund at Central Bank (2120 Hennepin Av. S. in Minneapolis. The Chef's Gallery in Stillwater is matching up to $1,000 in donations, and Classic Provisions, a fancy foods importer that supplies restaurants and retailers, is matching up to $500 in donations.

“Fork the Fire” is the brainchild of Molly Broder of Broders’ Cucina Italiana and Broders’ Pasta Bar, Vincent Francoual of Vincent, Alex Roberts of Restaurant Alma, Kip Clayton of Parasole Restaurant Holdings, Anoush and Elli Ansari of Hemisphere Restaurant Partners, Desta Klein of Meritage (she’s responsible for the cheeky FTF name) and semi-professional diners Bob and Sue Macdonald.
