Lefthnader Francisco Liriano, by all accounts, looked good on Sunday during his batting practice session. He's trying not to spin off the mound during his follow-through, but it did happen a few times during his outing..
Still, he worked the corners well and his slider was sharp. Danny Valencia cracked his bat on his first swing off Liriano and had to borrow a teammate's bat for the rest of the round.
``He threw some nasty sliders," said Toby Gardenhire, who caught Liriano.

>>Jose Mijares wasn't the only one who was hit by a batted ball on Sunday. A hot grounder by Alexi Casilla clipped his heel and he had to dance out of the way of another comebacker. Neshek looked really good, but he tired at the end and lost some command. Casilla, ironically, had to dance out of the way of one of Neshek's pitches.

>>Twins manager Ron Gardenhire watched Mike Maroth throw on Sunday and liked what he saw. ``"The ball was really moving all over the place," he said. ``He's working on a few different things with the grip and location. In and out a little bit better. The ball was really good. It was really nice. first day out there and I haven't seen him throw 'pens or anything…the same guy I remember. The ball moving all over the place. Pretty good.

>>Jacque Jones has mentioned taking grounders at first base in order to be a little more versatile. I ran that one past the manager.
``I don't worry about Jacque in left, center or right," Gardenhire said. ``I would worry about Jacque at first base. I haven't seen that part and I don't' really believe that's part of his repertoire. Just guessing. On the flip side, there is no doubt that he would take ground balls at first base and be willing to do that."

>>Michael Cuddyer told me that Joe Nathan was, ``filthy," during his batting practice session.

>>Minor leaguers aren't due for at least another week, but Miguel Angel Sano, the Latin American bonus baby, has arrived at camp and will work out at the minor league facility. The Twin want Sano to get acclimated to pro ball and Fort Myers, so they brought him over.
The same thing was supposed to happen with another pricey infielder from the Dominican Republic, shortstop Jorge Polanco, but there was a paperwork issue with his visa process. So his arrival will be delayed a few days.

<>Today will be a little crazy, with physicals and the annual photo day. There's a good chance the workout will start a little bit after 9 am eastern.
