Jeff Tweedy Star Tribune photo by Elizabeth Flores Is Jeff Tweedy running for office? Or does he just like to bait his audiences? After becoming an official Duluth citizen (complete with a proclamation) before playing a concert at the DECC last Friday, the Wilco frontman complained the next night onstage in Madison, Wis. According to the Cap Times, Tweedy joked: "Last night, the mayor of Duluth made us an honorary Duluth band. And we've only played there twice. How many times have we played Madison? A lot. No key to the city, no certificate, nothing... And there's nothing more embarrassing than getting shown up by the mayor of Duluth." A Madison city council member read the comments and was so moved to make a proclamation of her own. According to the Cap Times, Satya Rhodes-Conway penned a proposition to make Wilco honorary citizens, for all kinds of reasons (click here for full proclamation), explaining that "Duluth, MN may be cool, but we would not want it said that either that fine city or its mayor are cooler than Madison." So moved, and now it will come to a vote on March 2.
