YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES

Michael Rand started RandBall with hopes that he could keep lies from conquering the minds of the weak. So far, he's only succeeded in using the word "redacted" a lot. He welcomes suggestions, news tips, links of pure genius, and pictures of pets in Halloween costumes here, though he already knows he will regret that last part.

A pleasant Saturday to you all - and how about a hand for the breakout sport of every Winter Olympics: curling! Despite the struggles of the all-Minnesotan American men's team, the sport has been the talk of my office during this Olympiad, and I suspect that my co-workers and I are not alone. I can only imagine what it must be like to run a curling club around Olympic time; they must be overrun with inquiries from novice curlers. The appeal seems obvious: you find three friends and play a sport that was clearly invented by people who were drinking at the time. It's like bowling, without the inevitable rental shoe-related fungal infection. It just looks like fun.
Of course, it's probably less fun for USA captain John Shuster right now. Not only was he benched yesterday, after missing four potential game-winning shots in three matches, but also he has to deal with criticism from uninformed idiots like me. And he's a Vikings fan. It's been a bad month for that guy.
On with the links:
*I just thought this was awesome: a five-minute documentary of one fan's trip to Arsenal. Partially this is because you could set footage of train derailments to Debussy and it'd seem classy, but it's still worth your time.
*Mike Reynolds over at the T-Wolves Blog did a Q and A with Wolves beat writer Jerry Zgoda. It's an interesting read - at least, as interesting as anything about the Wolves can be, at the moment.
*At Over the Baggy, Parker Hageman goes way, WAY inside Nick Punto's numbers to divine the truth about Little Nicky P. It reads like a research paper, but trust me, it's worth it.
*And finally: I now know who I want the Vikings to draft this year.
Truly, the story of Myron Rolle makes me feel like getting out and making more of my own life. He's quite an inspiration. On the other hand, curling's on today! (11am, MSNBC, USA vs. Sweden) I couldn't possibly miss that, could I?
