Jerry Zgoda missed the entire Kevin Garnett era, but he's back covering the Timberwolves after working the beat for their first four seasons two decades ago. In between, he covered a bit of everything: Gopher men's and women's basketball and NCAA athletics, golf, outdoor recreation, sports media and a little Vikings and Twins.

Jawai assigned to Sioux Falls in the D League for the weekend

The Wolves have sent Nathan Jawai to Sioux Falls in the NBA's Development League so he can get extensive court time and play back-to-back games.

He is expected to return to the Wolves Sunday after he plays games tonight and Saturday night against  the Dakota Wizards.

Jawai went nearly a month without playing a minute for the Wolves. He played eight minutes against Oklahoma City on Jan. 20, then didn't play again until Tuesday in Detroit and Wednesday in Washington.

If you're a huge a Jawai fan -- and who isn't? -- Saturday's Skyforce game will be shown on Versus cable network at 11 p.m.

UPDATE: Btw, forgot to mention: If you want to make a television split doubleheader tomorrow, you can watch both of the Wolves' big European prospects -- Ricky Rubio AND Nikola Pekovic -- face each other on NBA TV's tape-delayed Euroleague Game of the Week tomorrow at noon. (Game actually was played last week (but I won't spoil it) and play against next week, too).
