When it comes to Technobabble, I'm usually thinking geek. That's probably why a retail website like Think Geek is so much fun to explore. It's full of useless but intriguing junk that only a geek could appreciate. And that appreciation grows when you can get that stuff cheaply, such as during the Think Geek clearance sale. And, as Dealnews points out, if you use the code 9HBB during checkout, you can save an additional $5 off a $25 order or $10 off a $50 order. (Shipping adds $4.99.) Cool/useless/odd/must-have items that caught my eye include:

Electronic Paper Box Opener Keychain ($4.99, down from $11.99), which mimics the sound and feel of ripping open a package so that you can relive that euphoria again and again. I'm thinking that it would be cheaper just to keep a box of FedEx envelopes at your desk. Then again, using them for a keychain would be kinda clunky.

Beanbag Cellphone Chair ($6.99, down from $9.99), which actually seems kinda useful for those who like to park their mobile device on, say, a dresser or nightstand when not in use. But it's only a deal if you're into blue. The red and black models are at full over-price. Also some people might not appreciate that their cellphones look more comfortable than they are.

Cubicaller, the Cubicle Doorbell ($9.99, down from $14.99), which emits one of several selectable sounds at various volumes when someone presses the button. The idea is that co-workers use it when they approach your desk for a visit. My daughter actually gave me this for my birthday last year. I love it. My co-workers do, too, when prompted to press the button. Otherwise, they ignore it. But I like playing with it.

Water Powered Clock ($9.99, down from $12.99), which uses water to power a clock. (Duh.) I'm not much for house- or office plants, but an H2O-driven clock does sound kind of cool. Then again, asking a co-worker or neighbor to water your clock while you're on vacation seems a little strange. And does the clock run faster if you use a caffeinated beverage?

Star Trek Illuminated Shirt ($14.99, down from $39.99 -- what a deal!), which lights up with the words "Star Trek" and a zooming USS Enterprise (TOS, naturally). As if wearing a Star Trek shirt isn't enough to announce your geekiness to the world, a top that requires batteries (4 AAA, not included) will register an 8.0 on the Richter scale of geek-quakes. Live long and prosper -- as long as the batteries are charged.

3-D Star Wars Kites ($34.99, down from $39.99), which include 3-foot representations of the Millennium Falcon, an X-Wing fighter and a TIE fighter as functioning kites. OK, now this isn't the best deal going, but you get an instant $5 off with the coupon by buying it alone, and it goes a long way toward $10 off a $50 order when ordering with a cheaper item. So it's like Think Geek is paying you to buy it, right? Be the envy of all the other dads who grew up in the '70s and '80s -- and the embarrassment of your kids and all their friends -- when you take the family to the park on a windy summer day. Would it be too over the top to wear the Star Trek Illuminated Shirt while flying a Star Wars kite?
