I like the Toro electric shovel even better now

Target has the Toro electric shovel on clearance for $70, as shown in Sunday’s circular (Jan. 24). Regularly $100, the electric shovel works well for snow falls of 6-inches or less. I purchased one when it was sale for $80 and have used it several times. It’s electric and needs a cord (sold separately), so it’s not ideal for long distances but it works especially well for clearing off a deck. It’s small and lightweight so it can be stored inside, which also makes it a good choice for the disabled. One feature I don’t like is that the snow can only be blown forward. Unlike most snow blowers, the direction of the chute cannot be changed. I recommend calling the store or using the “find it at a Target store” feature at Target.com. When calling, ask for the seasonal department and use DPCI# 092-11-0060 for a stock check. Online, type “Toro electric shovel” in the search. Target also has manual shovels on clearance.
Several readers responded to my original blog that they think it looks pretty lame. It throws the snow at least 6 feet, almost as well as my bigger gas-powered MTD. Again, it won't work well for big snowfalls and the cord is a bit of a hassle but if you have a deck or a short sidewalk, it works well. Yeah, yeah, so does a shovel, I know. We could all use the exercise. Use your shovel on the driveway then. I'll get out the blower. I really hate shoveling snow and the electric shovel is almost fun.
