A Republican organization in Ohio announced Monday that Rep. Michele Bachmann will be headlining their annual fundraiser this February, a possible indicator of her growing status as a money draw for the party heading into the 2010 elections.

Bachmann, who has forged a national image as one of the most fiery conservatives in Congress, is slated to speak at the Lincoln-Reagan Dinner hosted by the Hamilton County Republican Party on Feb. 26. Hamilton County includes Cincinnati.

Hamilton County Republican Party Chairman Alex Triantafilou said he personally sought out Bachmann for the event because of her rising stature as an outspoken conservative.

"For me, it's about looking to the future," Triantafilou said in an interview. "And we could look back and have some … of the grand poobahs of the party showing up or we can have somebody that is emerging onto the national scene. And that's why we thought she would be exciting."

Noting that Hamilton County has an active Tea Party movement, Triantafilou said he thinks Bachmann is "the right person at the right moment here in Hamilton County."

The location of the dinner is not set, but the estimated cost per plate will be about $70-$90, Triantafilou said. He added that anywhere between 300 and 500 people are expected to attend.

The campaign manager for Bachmann's opponent in the Sixth District, Tarryl Clark, issued an unrelated fundraising appeal to supporters on Monday attacking the Stillwater congresswoman for these types of speaking engagements.

"Congresswoman Bachmann will spend 2010 just like she spent 2009 - promoting her personal agenda and continuing to obstruct reform," Zach Rodvold wrote. "She's already booked to travel across the country, speaking at Tea Party Conventions and raising money from her national conservative base."
