Bethel University and Mortenson Construction were fined a total of $54,825 for alleged storm-water violations between July 2007 and March 2008 at the university’s expansion project site in Arden Hills. In a statement released September 24, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) said that site work resulted in excess erosion and sediment-laden storm water that discharged into area wetlands and nearby Valentine Lake. Valentine Lake is listed by the MPCA as “impaired.” The parties complied with the requirement to bring the site into compliance and to clean up affected areas. Mortenson Construction also goes by the name M.A. Mortenson Company. Read the full order here.
