Roman Augustoviz is covering Gophers hockey this season for a third year. Coach Don Lucia's team finished seventh and fifth in the WCHA his first two years on the beat, but it’s not his fault. Occasionally, Roman will write about other Gopher sports such as volleyball, wrestling, cross country, track-and-field and baseball.

Lucia made few lineup changes for the second Bemidji State game. The top two lines are the same and so are the defensive pairings.

Forwards

First line/ Jordan Schroeder centering Mike Hoeffel and Nico Sacchetti ... each of these players had a goal on Saturday.

Second line/ Patrick White centering Tony Lucia and Zach Budish ... White's three-game scoring streak ended Saturday

Third ine/ Taylor Matson centering Mike Carman and Josh Birkholz ... Birkholz moves up from fourth line

Fourth line/ Nick Larson centering Jake Hansen and Joe Miller ... Miller did not play Saturday. He is taking the place of senior co-captain Ryan Flynn in the lineup. Flynn is out with a leg muscle injury. Is expected to be ready next weekend for UMD

Defensive pairs

First/ Aaron Ness and David Fischer ... Ness had two assists Saturday

Second/ Cade Fairchild and Brian Schack ... Fairchild had two assists Saturday

Third/ Kevin Wehrs and Seth Helgeson

Goalie

Alex Kangas or Ghengis Khan as The Don called him after his conquering 45-save effort at Wisconsin last weekend

Keys to tonight's game:

1) Get to the net for those greasy, dirty goals. Gophers are stronger than Beavers

2) Get the crowd in game with early goals, big hits, etc., and feed off them to build lead

3) Avoid turnovers. BSU is pesky fast, only goal they had Saturday was off a bad Gophers turnover

Gophers are 7-0-0 in their all-time series with BSU, six of those game were at Mariucci. Closest game in series was 2-1, next closest was 4-1 win on Sat., which was really more of a 3-1 game,
