Wild vs. Carolina Hurricanes; Pouliot injured

What a day! I can't believe I'm inside. Won't be able to see a day like this again for five months.

Warmups currently going on. Canes wearing their black third jerseys. Chuck Kobasew is out. Injured Shane Hnidy's skating warmups, but he did that against Washington, too. We'll see if he returns or if John Scott plays for him again.

Update: Pouliot's got an upper-body injury. Shane Hnidy in and John Scott playing wing. Boogaard and Scott on the same line perhaps.

Hurricanes are winless in 14 straight. A loss this afternoon breaks the 30-year franchise record. Whalers/Canes were winless in 14 straight in '91-92. On that team later the same year was a fella named Todd Richards.

Coincidence? Oh, and I'm 0-9-1 on the road and Rachel Blount's 2-0.

Coincidence?

Wild's never won in this building.

Coincidence?

A tailgater had a sign as I was driving in that said, "Winning streak starts today."

We will see. You can cut the tension here with a knife.

NINE scouts here today. As Montreal's Pierre Gauthier quipped to me in the press room, "Let's start a rumor."

Love the RBC Center press box. Individual TV's at every press seat. When I covered Florida, I used to rush up here pregame to watch Seinfeld marathons.
