Since 2002. Bethlehem Academy, a Faribault school with an enrollment of 133 – the smallest of all the 1A state qualifiers –has finished second in 1A in the even years and first in the odd years. That trend continued today as the Cardinals beat Minneota in three games to win another championship.

These were familiar opponents.Bethlehem Academy beat Minneota in the 2005 title match and Minneota defeated the Cardinals for the championship in 2006.

"That is just weird stuff," BA coach Franz Boeltre said of the even/odd situation. "I don’t know what the reason for it is, but I’d be more than happy to stay in that pattern for as long as I coach. It’s just been unbelievable. You’d love to run two in a row together, but I’ll never complain about the pattern."
