Gophers lose to Illinois. Ick.

DiggGophers quarterback Adam Weber talked about the ``stigma'' the Gophers have among their fans. You know, the whole ``lose when you should win'' stigma, along with the ``lose when you should lose'' stigma.
I thought the Michigan State victory had saved Brewster's job, and maybe it did, but a loss like this should leave him in jeopardy. My column for the Sunday paper questions why Brewster would spend so much time praising his team's effort when they failed to show up for the first half of a game that could have made them bowl-eligible.
The Big Ten stinks, and now the Gophers are 3-4 in the Big Ten, with a game at Iowa remaining. How can we pretend progress is being made?
I hope I spelled ``Ick'' correctly.
At least The Bank is a beautiful place to watch college football on a sunny day. Sorry, that's the best I can do for optimism right now, I just spent 36 hours watching the Wolves and Gophers. I still think the decision to fire offensive coordinator Mike Dunbar just when it seemed Adam Weber was beginning to thrive in the Spread Offense is killing this program.
