All things Gophers Football, Big Ten and more. Kent Youngblood is no stranger to football. His first full-time beat was covering the Green Bay Packers for the Wisconsin State Journal for six seasons starting in 1992. In 1998 he came to the Star Tribune, where he covered the Vikings for five seasons. Having grown up in Minnesota, Kent is also old enough to remember raking the leaves in his yard while listening to Ray Christensen describe the Gophers' 16-0 victory over No. 1-ranked Michigan back in 1977.
Email Kent to talk about the Gophers.

Greetings.
Ah, now I get it. So this is what everybody had in mind when they were talking about returning to outdoor football. What a day. After putting up with some crummy October weather, we get this: Already at or about 60 degrees. Fall football the way it's supposed to be.I got to the parking lot at quarter to nine this morning and the fans were already in full pre-game party gear.
I think the Gophers need to get off to a start similar to the one they had against MSU. Unlike the Spartans -- a well-coached team that played hard for 60 minutes -- I think Illinois would fold up tent.
We'll see. I'll get back to you at halftime. In the meantime, enjoy the weather.
