Perhaps I should have named this post Big GIrl Cakes.

Because our little Vivian  is turning TWO this weekend. She's officially a "Big Girl"

TWO!

And what a lovely weekend to turn TWO.

See the weekend forecast here.

Dear Forecast,

Please don't change.   And if you do change, please err on the side of even sunnier and warmer.  Don't you think we deserve it after being cheated out of October?

Sincerely,

Kay

I know we're making her favorite dish  (and coincidentally the reason she exists) the magical Tater Tot Casserole excuse me, HOT DISH. (I'm from Illinois.)

I asked her what kind of cake she wants. She said "PINK!"

She likes pink but not princesses. Easy enough. But I'm going to make it instead of buy it. Since she's my little pink and brown girl (see IRON DAISY)  I think I'll make it chocolate with pink frosting.

But hmmm now to choose the perfect recipe.

I saw this KRAFT recipe for SNOWBALL CAKE  that you make in a Pyrex bowl - I could modify it to be pink of course.

I tried to get some inspiration from the Star Tribune Cake Contest - but they are far too ambitious for me.

Then of course there are a million cute ideas from BAKERELLA . (These cupcake pops would be adorable).

I googled PINK CAKE - and this recipe came up.   PINK LOZENGE CAKE.  Kind of made me *urp* a little. I think the main ingredient are those  pink  minty discs that my grandmother used to have in her candy dish. They taste like Pepto Bismol.  No thank you.

So I thought I'd turn it to you dear, inspirational,  Cribsheeters - any good recipes or additional  ideas?
