I love B-movies, which are a staple of the SyFy (stupidest name change ever) Channel's original productions. The latest coming to DVD after premiering on the cable network is Megafault, a quake-oriented thriller due Nov. 24 on DVD and Blu-ray. But I had to laugh when I got the press release for it. Right there at the top are two critics' blurbs to prop up the movie. One -- "an EPIC disaster film" from MTV.com -- is rather benign and kinda lame. The other, though, is this gem credited to Amazon.com: "ENTERTAINING. A Great Time. ****" But wait a minute; Amazon's editorial reviews don't have star ratings. That's because the blurb isn't from a staffer; it's from an Amazon customer! It's the only comment posted for Megafault, by the way. And the relevant comment from customer Fred Rayworth was actually, "This one was laughably inaccurate and unrealistic. Then again, it's entertainment and in that respect, I had a great time." Even the no-name reviews get rewritten.
