Michael Rand started RandBall with hopes that he could convince the world to love jumpsuits as much as he does. So far, he's only succeeded in using the word "redacted" a lot. He welcomes suggestions, news tips, links of pure genius, and pictures of pets in Halloween costumes here, though he already knows he will regret that last part.

Pedro Martinez gets another shot in the Bronx

While most people are focusing on the great World Series pitching matchup pitting ex-teammates CC Sabathia and Cliff Lee against each other (well, everyone except Cleveland fans like Fasolamatt, who are probably hoping for a well-timed meteor), we are more intrigued by the recent announcement that Pedro Martinez will pitch Game 2 for the Phillies. That will rekindle one of the great player vs. team rivalries of recent years. From friend and former Minnesota Daily colleague Todd Zolecki, now with MLB.com:

[Charlie] Manuel announced during his weekly appearance on The Michael Smerconish Show on WPHT Radio in Philadelphia that Martinez will start against the New York Yankees in Game 2 on Thursday and Cole Hamels will start Game 3 on Saturday at Citizens Bank Park. Martinez is 11-11 with a 3.20 ERA in 32 career starts against the Yankees in the regular season, and was 8-4 with a 2.95 ERA in 16 career starts at the old Yankee Stadium. He is 1-2 with a 4.72 ERA in six postseason appearances against the Yankees, and is 0-2 with a 5.93 ERA in his past five. "When we signed Pedro, I wondered what kind of shape he was in and what condition his arm was in," Manuel told reporters before Monday's workout at Citizens Bank Park. "I think he passed both of those tests."

Game 2 will answer, perhaps for the last time, who is, indeed, whose daddy.
