YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES
Michael Rand started RandBall with hopes that he could keep lies from conquering the minds of the weak. So far, he's only succeeded in using the word "redacted" a lot. He welcomes suggestions, news tips, links of pure genius, and pictures of pets in Halloween costumes here, though he already knows he will regret that last part.

A few weeks back, we penned a Page 2 story about local athletes who qualify as "that guy." As in, when you hear their names you barely remember they played in Minnesota and/or barely remember that they made some sort of impact in their time here. Well, one reader named Tim didn't think we took things far enough. He said in an e-mai:
So, write a COMPLETE article and tell where these people are today!!!
This e-mail was forwarded to Stu. And Stu, being the obliging sort that he is, put together a very special Hunt Down, along with this disclaimer: "Stu's Hunt Down is nothing if not responsive to the needs of people with ridiculous Hotmail account names. I skipped Ramon Ortiz because I skipped Ramon Ortiz."
Tim, this is for you. And everyone else reading. Stu?

The Huntdowns
Name: Lew Ford
Claim to Fame, Minnesota: quirky outfielder for the Minnesota Twins from 2003-2007. The stories are legion. HOWEVAH! Take a look at who finished 24th in the AL MVP balloting in 2004. Yep. That really happened. So, when Jeter steals the award from Mauer this year, remember that Lew Ford once received votes for the award, and that nobody knows anything.
Where He Is Now: after a stint with the Hanshin Tigers, Ford signed a minor-league deal with the Reds last month.
Name: Robert Ferguson
Claim to Fame, Minnesota: wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings in 2007 and 2008. Spent the balance of his career with the Green Bay Packers, but, like Brett Favre, will likely go into Canton as a Viking.
Where He Is Now: signed with the Falcons this summer as a free agent, but did not make the final roster.
Name: Jeff Cirillo Claim to Fame, Minnesota: utility infielder for the Twins in 2007, fulfilling that year’s roster requirement for a scrappy veteran with moxie who could no longer play baseball.
Where He Is Now: as of 2008, was part of FSN Wisconsin’s Brewers telecasts. However, it appears he is not a part of this year’s crew, but FSN did make room for legendary Twin Cities media personality Telly Hughes. Telly! (Proprietor note: Does that segment come with free peanuts?)
Name: Aaron Voros
Claim to Fame, Minnesota: overcame cancer to play the hoc-key for the Minnesota Wild in the 2007-08 season.
Where He Is Now: with the New York Rangers. Apparently, he gets beaten up a lot.
Name: Kirk Snyder
Claim to Fame, Minnesota: the Timberwolves acquired Snyder, cash and a 2010 2nd-rounder from the Houston Rockets for Gerald Green. He played 36 games for the Wolves in 2008.
Where He Is Now: was being force-fed and found not competent to stand trial, but is now competent. Yay, competence!
