John Thomas was a star at Minneapolis Roosevelt High School, at the University of Minnesota and he appeared in 208 NBA games, including some time with the Timberwolves. Now he has rejoined the Timberwolves/Lynx organization as vice president of community engagement.

In the role Thomas will be responsible for overseeing community relations efforts. He will also run and grow the organization's basketball academy and develop a NBA/WNBA alumni program. He will start next week.

Thomas has spent the last four years as the national training manager for Life Time Fitness, where he led the basketball training division for Ultimate Hoops. He has also worked with the National Basketball Retired Players Association to help former NBA, WNBA, ABA and Harlem Globetrotters transition into life after the game.

"I would like to thank Glen Taylor and Ethan Casson for providing me with the opportunity to rejoin the organization in a new and exciting role," Thomas said in a release. "They say, 'Home is where the heart is,' and that rings especially true for me."
