A state program is offering grants of up to $400 to schools that take field trips to farms, agricultural processing sites, school gardens, or other projects that educate youth about agriculture. The Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom program has $10,000 planned for grants in 2015 to qualified K-12 teachers.

Schools need to apply for the grants online by January 10.

The program is a public-private partnership between the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and the MAITC Foundation. It also provides a variety of K-12 educational materials, including the student AgMag Series, and "Food for Thought" geography-based curriculum.
