After last night's hail storms in the western metro, some auto owners may be in need of a top-rated auto body and glass shop.

The following companies were top rated by Twin Cities Consumers' Checkbook and Angie's List. Both companies have members or subscribers who rate local service providers. Checkbook goes one step further to independently rate the fairness of the prices charged.

Apple Valley Collision (Apple Valley, 952-432-9511)

Bon Auto Body & Glass (Minneapolis, 612-866-8884)

Ed's Collison & Glass (Maple Grove, 763-425-0077)

Hagen's Auto Body (Minneapolis, 612-872-6671)

Mulroy's Body Shop (Minneapolis, 612-823-7257)

Nelvin's Paint & Body Shop (Richfield, 612-869-0512)

If you're looking for other options, such as tree trimming or roof repair or a more complete list of auto repair shops, try Checkbook or Angie's List.

Angie's List (952-851-3066) offers short-term memberships for a month or three months (verify when you call). If you can hold out until the State Fair, the membership deals are at their lowest. Normally $31 to $72 per year, the State fair special has been $20 for one year and $38 for two in years past.

Twin Cities Consumers' Checkbook, a non-profit consumer agency, offers per article downloads for $10 or $15 for non-subscribers, online only access for $15 per year, as well as a two year subscription for $34 or a 4 year subscription for $54 (both include web access). Checkbook's magazine publications are available free from most public libraries.
