Karin Miller with the group Freedom to Dance, danced to the Resurrection Chant  in front of the Capitol, a dance celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. 

 

Gary Borgendale, left, put his hand on Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and asked the crowd to pray for him and the state government.  Ritchie read a proclaimation from the governor making today a National Day of Prayer. 

 

Members of the Minnesota State Senate, David Hann, Dan Hall, Roger Chamberlain, Michelle Benson Paul Gazelka and wife Maralee Gazelka, bowed their heads in prayer in front of the Capitol during the National Day of Prayer.   

 

Minnesota Atheists held their Day of Reason inside the Capitol Rotunda at the same time The National Day of Prayer was being held outside the Capitol.  The atheists called for a separation between church and state and keeping religious beliefs out of law.
