Hundreds of Minnesotans from around the state rallied in front of the State Capitol in support of same-sex couples to be allowed to marry. Key bills are expected soon at the legislature.

Governor Mark Dayton spoke to the crowd in front of the Capitol.

Senator Scott Dibble, co-author of the same-sex marriage bill told the crowd how his husband reacted upon hearing Dibble was safe after running in the Boston Marathon this weekend. He said he is a legal stranger to his husband but they are family and deserve the freedom to marry.

Ralliers cheer Sen. Scott Dibble.

Lian Simmer and Calla Paule tried to catch sleet and freezing rain in their mouths before the rally started in front of the Capitol.
