Gov. Mark Dayton has raised just $32,000 so far this year and has spent $42,000 for his re-election campaign.

As of two weeks ago, Dayton had about $86,000 cash on hand.

The governor voluntarily files quarterly campaign finance disclosures because he believes Minnesota election officials should be required to file more often than currently required. State law would not require him to disclose his campaign finance details until next year.

The governor, an heir to the Dayton department store fortune, spent almost $3.9 million of his own money on his 2010 campaign. His campaign still technically owes him that money but he has said he expects it will never be paid back.

No high-profile Republican has yet declared a run against Dayton, although many are considering gubernatorial bids.
