Duluth is ready to rock the country.

KUMD, the college radio station for University of Minnesota-Duluth, will be spotlighted on "College Radio Countdown," a new program airing on mtvU, an affiliate network of MTV.

For one week, starting Tuesday, March 26, the channel will play the top 10 videos selected by the staff for KUMD's student-run nighttime show, "The Basement." In addition, mtvU will air a one-minute video, created by the Duluth radio team, several times a day.

"They selected us based on the fact that we play cutting-edge music and stay on the forefront of new indie music," said KUMD's director of development, Ira Salmela. "For the students who have put in a lot of hours over the years, this is a great compliment."

Don't think the KUMD staffers have let the national attention go to their heads. Minnesota bands Trampled By Turtles and Polica both made the cut.

Tuesday (March 26): noon, 6 p.m. midnight

Wednesday: 7 a.m., 4 p.m., 9 p.m.

Thursday: 10 a.m., 2 p.m., 8 p.m.

Friday: 9 a.m., 3 p.m., midnight

Saturday: 7 a.m., 1 p.m., 7 p.m.

Sunday: noon, 6 p.m., 10 p.m.

The Duluth program will also run Monday, April 1, but times are not yet available.
