With several regulars hanging back to work out while the rest of the team heads to Tampa to play the Yankees, the Twins need extra players to face the Yankees tonight. Especially a third baseman.

Enter Miguel Sano.

Sano, of course, not only is the Twins' top prospect but one of the best prospects in all of baseball. He has special power potential but is going through an adjustment period at third base. Some wonder if he will move to the outfield or first base while the Twins want to see how much Sano improves defensively after committing 42 errors last season

The Twins, as they should, want to develop two-way players. So they want Sano to be all he can be defensively. Paul Molitor has been tabbed to work with Sano on the finer points of playing third base.

At least it will be cool to watch him take batting practice. There are Twins players who want to see the kid take b.p. - but they won't be on the trip.

This doesn't mean Sano is being considered for the major league team, so slow your roll. Sano will likely start the season at Class Fort Myers.

But, tonight, he'll be in a Twins uniform. Playing third. Batting fifth. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.

You can catch it on FSN Plus as well as the YES Network.

Will check in this afternoon from Tampa with lineups and other pre-game notes.
