* Nebraska Omaha -- or Omaha as the school is re-branding itself -- comes to Mariucci with a six-game winning streak in men's hockey. That's the second longest in team history. The red Mavericks won eight games in a row in the middle of the 2001-02 season. Dave Ahlers, Omaha's director of communications, said the school is in the first year of rebranding itself partly to be like other schools in the Summit League it is joining in some sports. Several of those schools are known by the city they are in.

Omaha is still using Nebraska Omaha this year to avoid confusion, he said. ... Changing a name is a process, not done in one school year, it seems.

* Ohio State men's hockey coach Mark Osiecki, according to a USCHO.com story, said the school in Columbus has tentative plans to build an arena which will be used for hockey only.
