Dayton buys a 'Vote No' T-shirt in Charlotte

Posted by: under 2012 Presidential election, Gov. Mark Dayton, President Obama Updated: September 4, 2012 - 5:18 PM

Gov. Mark Dayton proudly bought a “Vote No” T-shirt during the Democratic National Convention Tuesday, demonstrating his opposition to the anti-gay marriage amendment on the Minnesota ballot in November.

Dayton also expressed his support for the historic plank in the Democratic platform, which for the first time endorses same-sex marriage.

Dayton called it a “very powerful statement…I’m proud it’s in this platform and it says a lot about movement forward in this Democratic party,” he said.

Much of the state delegation wore the same “Vote No” T-shirt on the convention floor. The platform was adopted by acclamation.
