The Design of Medical Devices Conference at the University of Minnesota is seeking original two-page papers to be submitted for the 2013 conference, to be held April 8-11, 2013 in Minneapolis. The conference is considered the largest of its kind in the world. Academic and industry researchers, clinicians and practitioners are encouraged to submit papers that demonstrate new technologies and applications in medical device design. According to conference officials, the paper "should present an unbiased description of an experiment, product or business method related to medical devices. Repeated references to branded products or trade names, or excessive use of corporate logos or trademarks in illustrations are discouraged." Authors of accepted papers will be asked to present at a scientific poster session during the conference. The authors of 10 accepted papers describing designs that have the potential for commercialization will also be invited to participate in the Three-in-Five competition session. All papers that are accepted will be published as a two-page technical brief in the ASME Journal of Medical Devices. Authors must register and participate in the conference for their papers to be eligible for publication. The conference will accept papers for the following technical tracks: TRK 1: Cardiovascular
TRK 2: Neuroengineering
TRK 3: Orthopedics
TRK 4: Urologic
TRK 5: Rehabilitation
TRK 6: Engineered Tissues
TRK 7: MEMS and Nano
TRK 8: Surgical Tools
TRK 9: Computer Modeling and Simulation
TRK 10: Design and Human Factors
TRK 11: Medical Device Product Development Process
TRK 12: Regulatory and Intellectual Property
