A long-awaited groundbreaking for St. Paul's Penfield Development

Minneapolis has been getting all the development attention these days - St. Paul is finally getting its turn. After a nearly 10-year wait, there will be a groundbreaking ceremony to welcome the Penfield to downtown St. Paul. Once slated to be a high-rise luxury condo tower, the project has had to evolve with the changing real estate market. The $62 million project will now have 253 market rate rental apartments and a 27,000 square-foot Lunds grocery store on the main level of the six-story building, which will cover a full city block. As my colleague, Rochelle Olson said in a story in early May (click here for the story), the project got a boost from a $41 million HUD loan. And click here to see a rendering and other details of the project, which was designed by the BKV Group.
