Al Lindner, who, with his brother, Ron, started In-Fisherman magazine and founded a host of knowledge-based fishing television shows, sparking a modern-day angling revolution, spoke at a Capitol rally Monday in support of an increase in hunting and fishing license fees.

The rally was attended by between 50 and 75 supporters, and was intended to boost the chances that a Game and Fish bill passed this session will include modest increases in the costs of hunting and fishing licenses.

The Department of Natural Resources Game and Fish fund will go in the red within about a year, without the fee hikes, the agency has said. Program and staff cuts could begin as soon as the end of the legislative session, if the increases aren't approved, the DNR says.
