Rep. Michele Bachmann termed the reaction to Rush Limbaugh’s recent “slut” epithet as “overkill,” adding, “you see the comments that were said about me and absolutely no response whatsoever.”
The Minnesota Republican's remarks came in an interview about foster children Thursday on CNN’s Starting Point with Soledad O’Brien.
Asked about the Limbaugh backlash, Bachmann said “I will tell you from personal experience. I couldn't repeat on television what has been said about me.”
She noted that a judge recently ordered Twitter to identify a man who called on her “to be not only raped and sodomized but also killed.”
“Now, this is serious and I’ve had things said about me during the course of running for the presidency,” she continued. “There was zero outrage about the statements on the left, absolutely zero.”
But while Bachmann has been reluctant to criticize Limbaugh, she seemed to make a call for equal outrage in the O’Brien interview. “It doesn't matter whether a woman is a Republican or Democrat or whether she's liberal or conservative,” Bachmann said. “This sort of violent talk should not be acceptable for anyone.”
