Congresswoman Michele Bachmann can polka but she's not going to dance with the stars.

Bachmann's office issued a release today to shoot down rumors that "Dancing with the Stars" producers have tapped the Minnesota Republican and former presidential candidate for next season's competition.

"In full disclosure, I did win a polka dancing competition when I was in the tenth grade at my alma matter, Anoka High School in Anoka, Minn.," said Bachmann in the statement. "But, despite my tenth grade polka success and my lifelong love of ballroom dancing, the recent rumors are false. I will not be joining 'Dancing with the Stars.'

"My time and attentions remains committed to creating more private sector jobs, and higher paying jobs in the Sixth Congressional Districts. Serious issues face our nation. I'm continuing to push for cutting wasteful government spending, a successful conclusion to the decades-long St. Croix River Crossing Project in my district, and repealing the government takeover of health care."

In recent days, The Atlantic, and other publications, reported that Bachmann and another former presidential candidate, Herman Cain, turned down offers from DWTS. The Atlantic cited the reported invite as the "latest example of the new career opportunities available to politicians in this strange new entertainment era."

Bachmann showed off her dance moves with her husband, Marcus, during presidential campaign events this year and last, including the Iowa straw poll in August and Iowa caucuses in January.
