Longtime Republican activist and former Minnesota House representative Allen Quist may run for Congress again in Minnesota's southern first district.

"I'm definitely leaning in that direction," he said Wednesday. He said he would likely make a decision by the end of the month. He also tweeted and blogged about his possible intensions.

Quist ran for the Republican nod in the race two years ago but dropped out when he failed to win the party's endorsement. He said he has "always" abided by party endorsements in the past but in an interview he did not say he would for sure abide this year.

Already, Republican state Sen. Mike Parry has said he will run against Democratic U.S. Rep. Tim Walz in next year's election.

Update:

Parry Wednesday afternoon said he would start a campaign tour with nine stops in various coffee shops and restaurants across the district on Thursday and Friday.
